Review
Bengali movie Network is a taut thriller set against the backdrop of media industry and the perils faced by the media.
Abhijit Ganguly ( Saswata Chatterjee) a film director who is at the end of his tether after delivering a series of flops. He decides to make a comeback after 12 years. The director comes to know that he is suffering from cancer and he has just two more years of life. He decides to pull in his own resources and make a film to regain all the lost glory.
Shreya (Rini Ghosh) and Raj Sengupta (Indrajit Mazumder) are two young budding talents who are trying their luck in the film industry. Ganguly comes to know about them and hires them as his crew members. He trusts them explicitly. One fine day Abhijit is shocked to find that another film has been made on the same story line featuring Raj and Shreya in the lead. The film is produced by his rival producer Arindam Chakraborty (Sabyasachi Chakraborty. He realises he has been betrayed by his trusted crew members.
It is then that he decides to avenge them by making a reality TV show titled "Their Life" A unique show which depicts moments from Raj and Shreya's life. How he exacts his revenge is what forms the next plot of the film.
An offbeat Bengali film with niche audience target the film is full of surprises. Debutant Saptawswa Basu is brilliant with his plot and convincing story telling. Every more in the film surprises you.
Saswata Chatterjee is superb as the director, Sabyasachi Chakraborty is a delight to watch. While Indrajit Majumdar as Raj and Rini Ghosh as Shreya are seemingly effortless in their performances.
The editing could have been more crisp but otherwise a brilliant piece of cinema makes it a delight worthwhile. Background score is excellent and lends weightage to the film. An entertaining watch over the weekend.
