BOLLYWOOD MOVIE  REVIEW

1) Mardaani 2

 Rating : 2.5/5
 Duration: 1hr 45 min
 Producer :Aditya Chopra.

(Sequel to 2014 film” Mardaani” featuring Rani Mukerji as police officer who goes against a young and ferocious 21 year old man on a raping and murdering sprint)

PLUS POINTS:
1)Rani is back with a bang and proves that she is one of the finest actor. Her acting is intense with few hard hitting dialogues. She is good in action too. Vishal Jethwa, who plays the villain, has delivered a power packed performance with the right amount of thrill and fear. His Rajasthani accent adds spice to the character.

2) Due to the franchise value, film will surely lure audience to the theatres, especially women.
3) Debut Director (Gopi Puthran) (Writer :Mardaani) has done a commendable job and has handled such a sensitive issue rightly.

4) Action sequences are well executed. The editing (Chaaru Shree Roy) is crisp.

5) The music and background score (Music: Anu Malik, Score: John Stewart Eduri) are in absolute sync with the film.

6)Locations of Kota are a good match with the setup.

MINUS POINTS:
1) Film lacks freshness in subject. Many cinematic liberties have  been taken, especially to showcase the character of Vishal Jethwa. His thought process and planning does not match with his early 20s age making it difficult for the audience to digest the criminal brain he has. The reason for his brutal mentality has been showcased in the climax which keeps the audience wondering throughout the justification for his acts.
 2) Story is a pure work of fiction; though Screenplay is good but could’ve been better. Dialogues lack punches.

BOX OFFICE:
Film has created a good buzz due to promos, but its quite unlikely that it’d get a decent opening. Hence, last week’s film “Pati Patni and Woh” would continue to rule the box office in the second week too.

BOX OFFICE RATING: 2/5

 2) Mamangam : Malyalam film (dubbed in Hindi)

 Rating: 2.5/5
Producer: Venu Kunnappilly
Director: M.Padmakumar
Starring: Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, Prachi TehlanTarun Arora.
Music :M.Jayachandran.  Score: Sanchit Balhara & Ankit Balhara.

(The biggest project in Malayalam film industry so far. Based on true historic facts of 18th century, is the costliest film ever made. The first half slows down the story, while the second half promises more action. It pays too much attention to flashback creating confusion with the main story line. The highlight is Mammootty’s female avatar in the first half. While the megastar does look a bit stiff in action scenes, he brings a certain lively authenticity to his feminine portrayal. Locations, photography and stunt scenes are superb. Due to poor promotions, film will go widely unnoticed in hindi belt but will do good in Southern states)

Other released films:

3) The Body

Producer :  Viacom 18 Motion Pictures & Sunil Kheterpal.
Director: Jeethu Joseph
Starring: Emraan Hashmi,Rishi Kapoor,Sobhita Dhulipala, Vedhika.
Music:Shamir Tandon Arko, Tanishk Bagchi.

(The story of “The Body” revolves around a police officer’s search for a body gone missing from a morgue. It is an official remake of 2012 spanish film ‘The Body’).                                                     The film's air of mystery and thrill may create an atmosphere of anticipation. Emraan Hashmi (with string of flops like Why Cheat India, Baadshaho, Raaz Reebot, Humari Adhuri Kahani) had a poor run at the box office for the past 3 years, which is likely to continue. Poor  promotions will hamper business and would go widely unnoticed.

4) Jumanji: The Next Level(English/Hindi)

Producer : Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Matt Tolmach, William Teitler, Jake Kasdan.
Director: Jake Kasdan.

(Jumanji:The Next Level is the fourth installment of the Jumanji franchise)

It’s an enjoyable stress buster, sequel for kids as well as adults; though the reviews are not very positive, but it tries to infuse the original idea with a couple new ideas while setting the stage for more exciting adventures to come.
